Hail as big as golf balls shattered windows and damaged roofs and vehicles
West Bank property owners were out Monday assessing damages from Sunday night's hailstorm.
"We're getting reports of shattered windows, damage to homes, roofs and automobiles," says Jefferson Parish Councilman-at-large Chris Roberts.
"There's damage reports that we're getting in regards to HVAC systems, in addition to that patio covers, roofs, siding," Roberts said.
Officials say hail covered a wide area of the West Bank from Algiers to Westwego. Golf ball-sized hail was reported in Marrero.
Roberts said in some areas, hail accumulated for an extended period of time.
"We had some streets that had several inches of hail in it, and therefore it also hindered some of the draining of the heavy rains that followed," Roberts said.
