Special hearing to be held Tuesday, March 5, at 5pm at SUNO gym

The Louisiana Senate Judiciary "B" Committee, chaired by Sen. J.P. Morrell, D-New Orleans, will conduct a special hearing on the Mardi Gras police incident involving two African-American teenagers and nine undercover officers, mostly State Police, in the French Quarter.

The hearing is set for Tuesday, March 5, at 5pm at the SUNO gym.

"This meeting is largely fact finding, and it will also be used to give the public an opportunity to tell the state troopers what they expect, what their issues are and what they want to see happen in this investigation," Morrell said in an interview with 99.5FM.

"People feel like there should be an independent inquiry beyond just the internal investigations of both the NOPD and the State Police," Morrell said.

Morrell tells us that Col. Mike Edmonson, Chief of State Police, has confirmed he will be at the hearing.
