Cruise line extends berthing agreement at Port for 3 years
Carnival Cruise Lines will keep two ships sailing out of the Port of New Orleans through at least February 2016.
The company has extended its berthing agreement with the port. The agreement includes two, one-year options to extend the deal.
Carnival currently has two ships sailing from the Erato Street Cruise Terminal, the 2,974 passenger Conquest, which sails 7-day Caribbean itineraries, and the Elation which offers 4 and 5 day cruises to Mexico.
Beginning in November, New Orleans will become the homeport for Carnival's Sunshine which is undergoing a $155 million dollar renovation.
The company currently carries 340,000 passengers annually from New Orleans.
"Carnival is a valued partner for the Port and for the city and we look forward to continuing to build upon our past success," said Port President/CEO, Gary LaGrange.
