$20 million project is expected to be completed next spring
Boomtown Casino broke ground Thursday for a new, 150-room hotel that it's adding to its property along Peters Road in Harvey.
The $20 million project will include 8 luxury suites, conference space, a workout facility and additional parking.
"It will create 150 construction jobs during the life of the project and it'll create 50 permanent jobs here at Boomtown," says VP/GM Harold Rowland.
"By breaking ground on a hotel, we'll be able to reach into New Orleans and bring some of those tourists that go down to New Orleans and get them stay in Harvey at our casino," Rowland said.
The hotel is expected to be completed in late April or early May of 2014.
