Plaquemines Parish president says the support and encouragement from many convinced him to run
Plaquemines Parish President Billy Nungesser, who failed in his bid for lieutenant governor in 2011, says he plans to run again for the position in 2015.
Nungesser told 99.5FM Friday that lieutenant governor "is a unique opportunity for me to help other areas of the state do things and create jobs and things like we've done here in Plaquemines Parish."
Nungesser says this time, he plans to conduct more of a grassroots-style campaign.
Nungesser kicked off his campaign Thursday with a fundraiser in Baton Rouge that produced about $100,000 for his campaign.
