State says more "personnel adjustments" may be needed
Toll collection has been halted on the Crescent City Connection and the Department of Transportation and Development says it is working to suspend CCC operations this Friday.
The DOTD says 31 "temporary" workers, including toll takers, who were hired pending the outcome of the challenge to the November 6 vote on the extension of tolls will be terminated and that additional personnel adjustments may be needed based on funding and workload needs.
The agency says the employees are being referred to the Louisiana Workforce Commission for assistance in finding new jobs.
The moves are being made in the wake of a judge's nullification of the results of the election on Tuesday.
A new election on the issue has been scheduled for May 4.
