John Sens was director of purchasing for the sheriff's office
John Sens, the former purchasing director for the Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office, has pleaded guilty in federal court to charges that he rigged bids and took kickbacks from contractors.
Sens entered his plea on Wednesday.
The Times-Picayune reports he is set to be sentenced June 12, although that date may well change if authorities file charges against additional defendants.
Prosecutors allege that Sens had a $25,000 swimming pool installed at his Waveland, Miss., property and received framed artwork worth more than $5,000 plus $30,000 cash for his role in the scheme.
