A soldier from Louisiana was among the five killed last Monday in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan.

The Louisiana victim was identified as 27-year-old Chief Warrant Officer Bryan J. Henderson of Franklin.  He and the others were reported to be members of the 3rd Infantry Division based at the Hunter Army Airfield in Georgia.

Henderson was on his second deployment. His awards included the Air Medal. He joined the Army in May 2007.

The cause of the crash of the U-H 60 Black Hawk near Kandahar remains under investigation.  When initially reported, NATO said there was no enemy activity in the area.

The chopper went down in southern Kandahar during a rain storm, according to Jawid Faisal, a government spokesman for the province.

It was the first coalition helicopter crash with fatalities since September, when two separate crashes killed a total of 11 coalition service members.
