4th of July event had been held since 1978
A 4th of July staple in Mandeville for 35 years, the city's annual seafood festival has been canceled.
The Greater Mandeville Seafood Association has announced that it will no longer produce the Mandeville Seafood Festival.
The president of the association, Bll Dobson, cites financial reasons, saying "the GMSA board has suffered a loss of sponsorship and revenue over the past several years due to the tough economic climate."
Dobson says the association's board would like to thank all of the vendors, sponsors, and volunteers for all of their dedication over the years. Dobson says the board also expresses warm gratitude to the thousands of locals and visitors who celebrated with the association since 1978.
