State Police say they don't believe fog played a role in the crash
State Police say they don't believe fog was a factor in a multi-vehicle crash on I-12 in Tangipahoa Parish shortly after 6am Monday that claimed the life of a Covington woman.
Trooper Nick Manale tells 99.5FM 71-year-old Terry Gerot rearended a utility truck that had stopped in the left westbound lane of I-12 near the Robert exit - with its emergency flashers turned on - to alert motorists of another vehicle ahead that had become disabled after hitting a support column.
Manale says Gerot was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Tangipahoa Parish Coroner's Office.
He says the drivers of the other vehicles suffered minor injuries.
The accident remains under investigation.
