Krewe needs 200 new members paid in full by June 1 to keep parade on the West Bank
A West Bank carnival krewe has put out a plea for new members so it can continue its tradition of presenting a parade on the West Bank.
Frank Borne Jr., secretary of the Krewe of Alla, tells 99.5FM the organization must have 200 new members paid in full by June 1 or it will have to consider other options such as moving its parade to the St. Charles Avenue parade route in 2014.
"We have seen our membership decline over the past few years, in part due to the economy, but also because we've lost members to krewes that parade Uptown and in other parts of New Orleans," Borne said.
"We're hoping to get new members who enjoy having the West Bank carnival, and their families are able to go to a family-friendly atmosphere here on the West Bank," Borne added.
Alla is the fifth oldest parading Carnival organization.
