Participants urge lawmakers to support bill directing DHH to accept federal funding for Medicaid expansion
People who want the Jindal administration to take the federal Medicaid expansion money set aside for Louisiana visited lawmakers at their district offices Friday to ask them to support taking the money as well.
Beth Butler, who participated in the statewide Day of Action for Medicaid Expansion, tells 99.5FM, "If we don't spend the money here in Louisiana, it's gonna go to another state. This is not gonna be kept for us somewhere. It's going to go to residents in other states for their health care."
Participants called on lawmakers to co-author HB 233, which directs the state Department of Health and Hospitals to accept the $15.8 billion in federal funding for Medicaid expansion.
