Regional Planning Commission action on ferries on hold pending outcome of legislation, RPC chairman says
The future of the New Orleans-area ferries remains in limbo.
The chairman of the Regional Planning Commission (RPC), St. Bernard Parish President Dave Peralta, says action by the RPC regarding the ferries is on hold pending the outcome of legislation winding its way through the Legislature.
"There's not a whole lot that we can do, as far as the Regional Planning Commission is concerned, until such time as we receive what the final legislation may be," Peralta told 99.5FM Monday.
"I mean I don't know if they're gonna call for us to do a study. I don't know if they're gonna call, much like they did with the lighting issue (on the CCC), whether they're gonna bring that before the Regional Planning Commission or not. I mean we have to wait and see what the actual legislation, you know, what it is in its final format," Peralta said.
Peralta went on to say the RPC has not earmarked any funds for the ferries. The ferries are funded through June 30.
