Spokesman says they're trying to hire as many as they can
A spokesman for LCMC, the private company that will soon take over management of the LSU-run hospital in New Orleans, says the company plans to hire most of the people currently employed at the interim hospital.
Brian Landry, VP of Marketing at Children's Hospital, says of the just over 2,000 employees at the LSU hospital, about 1,900 applied for jobs with LCMC. And of that number, over 1,800 have been offered jobs.
Landry points out that the salaries and benefits being offered by LCMC are competitive, but there may be some differences.
"In some cases, some people are being offered more money and some people less money based on the salary surveys and looking at what is out in the marketplace as a competitive market standard," Landry said.
The privatization switch takes effect June 23.
