Causeway GM says the number of motorists improperly using the toll tag lanes has been reduced
The crackdown by Causeway Police which began two weeks ago at the Mandeville Toll Plaza on motorists improperly using the toll tag lanes appears to be working.
Causeway General Manager Carlton Dufrechou said on the first morning of the crackdown that about 15 to 20 motorists tried to cut into the toll tag lane, and instead of being allowed to get on the bridge, officers directed them to leave the toll plaza and turn around to get back into the proper lane.
"The only turnarounds we've had on Friday and again this morning were from people from out of town that had no idea of which lanes were typically cash or typically cash," Dufrechou said.
The crackdown will remain in effect.
