Jeremy Wilcox was fired for violating the department's policy on moral conduct, news release says
A New Orleans police officer has been fired for violating the department's policy on moral conduct.
In a news release, officials said Jeremy Wilcox was dismissed Tuesday.
Wilcox was pulled over last July by a St. John the Baptist Parish sheriff's deputy for driving a truck with no license plate. A check of his driver's license found there was an outstanding warrant for his arrest issued in St. Charles Parish, where Wilcox had allegedly issued a bad check for $2,505.
After an investigation, Wilcox told Deputy Superintendent Darryl Albert that he learned of the outstanding check in 2011 didn't have the funds to cover it. Authorities say he took no other action to resolve the issue.
Wilcox had worked for the department for six years.
