Expansion the result of rising demand for Abita beer and soda products, company president says
Abita Brewing Company has broken ground on a $12 million expansion of its brewery near Abita Springs.
The project includes a brewhouse, cellar, visitors center and office expansion.
Company President David Blossman says the brewery is being expanded to meet the anticipated rise in demand for their beer and soda products.
Blossman says he expects to hire more workers as well.
"We have 80 fulltime employees and 15 parttime employees now, and I just think that will continue to grow as it always has," Blossman said.
Blossman says the brewing side of the expansion is expected to be completed in December, while the office and the visitors center will be finished next June.
