Pie maker looking at sites a year after a fire destroyed the bakery
Saturday marked the one-year anniversary of the fire that destroyed the Hubig's Pie factory on Dauphine Street.
The company's operations manager, Drew Ramsey, told us Friday they're still deciding where to rebuild and have looked at a lot of different sites.
"We are actively looking at alternate sites and we're doing what we can to get back into business," Ramsey said.
He anticipates being back in business within a year.
Hubig's has gotten the okay from the City Council to rebuild on a site on Press Street between North Rampart and Burgundy Streets.
Ramsey says they've taken steps to make sure that when they resume making pies, that the new ones will be just like the old ones.
"We actually have some pies in some freezers to make sure that they are comparable. We are attentive to that detail," Ramsey said.
