Highest temperature recorded at the airport in Kenner was 93 on July 10
As we near the end of July, the meteorologist in charge of the National Weather Service New Orleans/Baton Rouge office says the month was not as hot as previous Julys.
Ken Graham says the highest temperature recorded this month at the airport in Kenner was 93 degrees on July 10.
Graham attributes the lower-than-normal highs to periodic fronts that came through, pushing out into the Gulf of Mexico, resulting in lots of rain and cloud cover over the metro area.
"On those rainy days with those clouds, your temperatures don't get up there. So even if the humidity's high, and it doesn't feel good outside, the actual temperature on the thermometer is not that high," Graham said.
June was a little hotter than July. A high of 95 was recorded on three occasions in June at the Kenner airport.
