The goal of "Geaux Lite Louisiana" is to lose 200 tons of weight
The Louisiana Hospital Association (LHA) has launched an ambitious, statewide weight loss initiative called "Geaux Lite Louisiana".
Its purpose is to help overweight Louisiana residents shed their unwanted pounds and in the process become healthier.
"This is a 6-month-long challenge," says LHA spokesman Ken Alexander. "We're trying to lose 200 tons or 400,000 pounds between today and April 1st of next year."
"We recently discovered that Louisiana is the most obese state in the country with 34.7% of our population being described as obese," Alexander said.
