JP registrar of voters predicts low voter turnout
Early voting for the October 19 elections began Saturday and runs through Saturday, October 12.
In Jefferson Parish, voters will decide the fate of three property tax millage renewals and a juvenile court judgeship.
Registrar of Voters Dennis DiMarco expects turnout to be low for early voting and on the day of the election.
"If we're lucky, maybe 10%, maybe 11% or so of the voters will turn out," DiMarco told 99.5FM.
"Usually millage renewals really don't attract a lot of attention I hate to say, as well as a juvenile judgeship. As important as it is, it just doesn't bring out the voters," DiMarco said.
Early voting hours are 8:30am to 6pm. Voters can cast ballots at the registrar of voters East Bank office in the Yenni Building at 1221 Elmwood Park Blvd. in Jefferson; in Kenner at 408 Minor Street and at the West Bank office at 5001 Westbank Expressway, Suite C-2 in Marrero.
