Council won't vote until after the parish inspector general issues his final report on the lease process
Jefferson Parish Council Chairman Chris Roberts says a vote by the council to choose a private partner or partners to run the parish's two public hospitals may not come until later this month.
"We're waiting for a response from the inspector general on a report. There were some things that he requested from the council and both hospital boards. Attorneys are preparing that information, and then he ultimately will release a final report following that," Roberts said Friday in an interview with 99.5FM.
Roberts says once the final report is released, the parish council can meet and take a vote.
Members of the parish council and the boards of East Jefferson General Hospital and West Jefferson Medical Center have until Nov. 11 to respond to the parish inspector general's report, which is a deadline set by the IG.
Louisiana Children's Medical Center (LCMC) and Hospital Corporation of America (HCA) are the two companies competing for the hospital lease.
