Enter the mind of a lyricist" is the best way to describe the artist known as Konfo. Konfo, born Rory Poplion, is a New Orleans native who grew up listening to artists such as Michael Jackson, Marc Anthony, Cash Money, 311, Lauren Hill, Maze, and Jay Z. His diverse musical background has helped shape his musical creativity. Rory Poplion began his music career in 2006 by starting a hip hop group called The Garage Band. The band performed at Tipitinas and other local venues. Rory later merged with a rock band called Echo Theory in 2007. Rory and Echo Theory formed an alternative group and called themselves Clouded Concepts. Clouded Concepts consisted of Brandon Howard as the bass guitarist, Panama as the drummer, and Rory as the lead singer. In 2008 the artist known as Rory of Clouded Concepts has now transformed into Konfo the artist. Konfo is short for Konfidenze (confidence), which is a name that best describes his personality as an artist and as a person. Konfo branched out to explore another genre; Hip Hop. He then decided to introduce himself to the Hip Hop community by dropping a mix tape called Quantum Leap in 2008. Konfo will have dropped 2 other mix tapes, Brainstorm and Year of the Wolf by 2009. Konfo also has two joint projects called Next Generation and Radiation Nation. In 2010 David Ancar, a longtime friend and business student attending the University of New Orleans, became his manager. The journey continues now with more eagerness and purpose. Since then, Konfo has been featured in many magazine articles. Arlene of Heat Magazine says "Konfo's flow is like none other (March 16, 2011)". The Times Picayune lists Konfo as one the top 3 artist alongside Lil Wayne and Master P for The Reader's Choice of most notable Rap/Hip Hop artist out of New Orleans. Konfo has had the opportunity to be listed as the opening act for two well-known artists; Corey Gunz and Currency. Konfo has performed at major venues such as The New Orleans Superdome, Howlin Wolf, Tipitinas, and The House of Blues. Although Konfo has embraced his fans in New Orleans as his own, he also has toured other states such as Winston Salem, North Carolina on 8/22/2010 and Baltimore, Maryland at Club One on 9/1/2010. Konfo also reaches air waves by receiving continuous play on local radio station, Q93, of his single Clouded Concepts. He also has a popular song called For You with Kara playing on 102.9, a local pop station. Konfo has released numerous creative visuals that are on popular websites such as World Star Hip Hop, Vlad, and Channel 4 local TV. These visuals have generated a large following. Konfo is currently working with engineer, Joshua Gaspard, on his upcoming CD, Clouded Concepts, which drops August 1st. Clouded Concepts will be a colorful mixture of Hip/Hop, R&B, and alternative songs which will be promoted as a free CD. This will be a hyped pretense to his album which will be released early 2012
